On January 13, 2024, the Seminar on Building the Agricultural Product International Trade Service Platform (hereinafter referred to as “the Seminar”) was held in North Office Area of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Beijing.
The Seminar was hosted by Qingbaijiang District People’s Government of Chengdu Municipality and China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as “CAPIAC”), and organized by Chengdu Qingbaijiang District Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Chengdu Ronghe Jiatai Modern Agricultural Development Co., Ltd, and Agricultural Product International Trade Committee of CAPIAC.
Over 30 guests, including leaders from Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), Belt and Road Promotion Center of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and China International Electronic Commerce Center of Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), Agricultural Counsellor of Embassy of Turkiye in Beijing, Secretary of Embassy of Vietnam in China, and guests from key industry associations and enterprises in agricultural product international trade, and relative departments of Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Chengdu Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Qingbaijiang District People’s Government of Chengdu, attended the seminar.
Xi Chunling, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of CAPIAC, delivered the opening remarks first, reviewed the development history of agricultural product international trade, pointed out its challenges and opportunities, and proposed the importance and social benefit of building the Agricultural Product International Trade Service Platform (hereinafter referred to as “the Platform”). Dou Chuan, Deputy Chief of Qingbaijiang District People’s Government of Chengdu, introduced the development and opportunities of open agriculture in Qingbaijiang District from facilitating channels, promoting trade, and agglomerating industries. President of Zhongnong Ocean (Beijing) Trading Co., Ltd, Peng Cheng illustrated the details of building the Platform. The guests reached the consensus that building a multi-functional Agricultural Product International Trade Service Platform integrating information sharing, trade docking, quality control and financial services is the key to improving the international competitiveness of agricultural product and promoting the sustainable development of agricultural product under the “Dual Circulation” development paradigm.
Profound discussion was also carried out on building the platform. The guests exchanged the wisdom over the functional modules, technology realization and operation model of the Platform. Information sharing was considered the core function of the Platform, and its authenticity and timeliness should be ensured; online matchmaking, offline negotiation and other diversified services should be provided in trade docking function to assist both the vendor and purchaser in precise matching; for the quality control function, more strict quality inspection system should be established to guarantee the agricultural-product quality safety; and the financial service function should provide diversified and customized financial services for agricultural product international trade.
With an eye on the measures for platform building, including policy support, talent training, and cooperative partnership building, the attending experts strengthened that the government should increase the support for the platform building, stipulate preferential policies, and encourage the enterprises to participate in the platform building. Meanwhile, talent training and introduction should be strengthened to provide vigorous talent guarantee for the platform building, and cooperation with international organizations and agricultural associations should be advanced to fuel the development of agricultural product international trade.
Other presentations focused on the topics of integrating international trade of global agricultural products in Qingbaijiang district.
The Seminar concluded that the Agricultural Product International Trade Service Platform is a systematic project which requires concerted efforts of the government, associations, enterprises and the society. With the active participation and vigorous support of different parties, the Agricultural Product International Trade Service Platform will be built and new vitality will be invigorated into the development of agricultural product international trade.
